Concrete flooring is the best since it is more durable, than any other type of flooring. Concrete flooring is made from stones, mixed with cement and sand in suitable proportion. They are mixed in a mixer and then poured immediately on the floor which is laid with steel cut into pieces and linked with each other with wires. As the mixture sets it forms thick solid flooring. The thickness of the flooring can be increased or decreased according to our taste and the purpose for which it is going to be used. It should be thick enough so that the supporting pillars can withstand the weight.

Concrete floors can be smoothened with watery cement. It can be mixed with colors if needed so we get red colored or blue colored flooring depending on our taste. Sometimes tiles will be laid over the concrete flooring to give a luxurious finish.

Concrete flooring stands life long, since it is very strong and does not spoil if water spills on it or chips if heavy articles fall on it like wooden flooring.

Concrete flooring can be decorated with some design after the cement is poured in it. When it is half dry patterns are formed with either a thick jute thread or sometimes. a sack or some designed material is placed on it and pressed hard so that the design is formed on the floor. This gives a beautiful effect and sometimes they use different color border. For example for red flooring they give blue borders or sometimes alternate red and blue squares to give a tiled effect. They mix the color with cement and apply on the flooring..  

The masons are expert in doing these patterns. We can see different places and choose the best design we want and ask them to do it. Now a days laying tiles over it has become fashion.

Sometimes they polish the colored concrete flooring with special polish which gives a bright look for it. The olden days polishes are shinier than the ones we get now. Some prefer to put mats over the concrete flooring to give them a traditional look. Mats are much cooler than carpets and well suited for hot countries.

Maintaining of concrete floors is easier sweeping out the dust and mopping with water gives a shine to the floor. As days go by and cleaning continues everyday the floor becomes shinier. The flooring can be given a polish once in two or three years .If something spills on the floor it can be cleaned with a wet cloth. It is very durable and long lasting.. Concrete floors make the room hotter compared to the wooden floor. The cost depends upon the thickness of the flooring.
